Mammals have a gene which tells them when to
stop growing. Reptiles do not have this
gene, and continue to grow all their lives.
This writer's Hypothesis is that the depth of
the atmosphere was much greater in the past, that the loss of
say half of the atmosphere's mass resulted in the dinosaurs
extinction by asphyxiation. Creatures which could adapt to
the now rarified atmosphere by resetting their gene for maximum
size like the Mammals made this transition most easily.
Atmospheric pressure varies:

Gas transfer across a membrane during
respiration varies with pressure as:

We say also that the atmosphere is being
constantly eroded into space as a result of global temperature
changes and the volumetric displacement that goes along with
that. Fortunately there remains a supply of fresh
atmospheric gasses beneath the crust of the earth which is most
noticeable at it's release from
Hydrothermal Vents.
You might say the earth is functioning like a
fluid filled tire which is gradually going flat. The fluid
wets its surface, for a while, but eventually vaporizes into
Space.

2005-03-28 Scientists recover T. rex soft tissue - Science
- 70-million-year-old fossil yields preserved blood vessels
Unpetrified Dinosaur bone and soft, flexible
cartilage & blood was found last year inside a sedimentary rock .
The preservation was by
mummification rather that
petrification! Without preservation by petrification,
the claim of "70 million years" old cannot be supported, and is
actually pretty stupid. This is not unique.. This
writer can argue effectively that the extinction of large
dinosaurs can comfortably be explained by asphyxiation following
a rapid loss of atmospheric pressure due to a rapid loss
of atmospheric gas into space. Look up

Carvings of dinosaurs have been found at Cambodian temple, circa
1200 AD.
This
is around the time of the Crusades and
St. George and the Dragon tales.
Could Dinosaurs actually have lived long
enough to be the Dragons we believe to be mythical?
This
writer's best guess for Dinosaur extinction is that a dramatic
Atmospheric loss suddenly asphyxiated the large dinosaurs.
Global warming may also be due to atmospheric loss.

Norman Dodd, Congressional Investigator,
Banker: Hidden Agenda of Tax Exempt Foundations for World
Government

Norman Dodd - Google Search

Norman Dodd was a Banker and an eye-witness to the
Crash of 1929. Later he was a
Congressional Investigator of
Tax Exempt Foundations during the
Reese Committee, 1959.
This interview outlines Dodd's discovery that some of the
largest
Tax Exempt Foundations of the US are
Fabian Socialists
having among their objectives the assimilation of the West into
a single Socialist block.
To this end, many of the largest Tax Exempt
Foundations are through "Education", quietly reconfiguring the
American psyche, preparing Americans to be
"comfortably merged with the
Soviet Union"

Hydrothermal
Vents are examples of
primordial water still gushing up from beneath the crust. Water
has been trapped there since the formation of the Planet. These
are present day
“fountains of the deep” at the thinnest parts of the Earth’s crust.
I'm inclined to think the depth of the Atmosphere has been very much a
variable in geological time with atmospheric loss to Space a the top and
gas replenishment from beneath the crust below as demonstrated in
Hydrothermal Vents.
The lag between atmospheric loss and atmospheric replacement is probably
sufficient to
explain
variations in Global Climate like the Ice Ages. The problem for
Planet Earth, of course is that the Sun's power to burnish off our
atmosphere is is massive compared to the earth's subcutaneous gases.
Mars, the fourth planet from the Sun once had an atmosphere, oceans and
rivers, but is now dead to complete atmospheric loss. How much
time to we have? In view of our destabilization of the
Lapse Rate profile
concurrent with Ozone depletion, it may not be much
The point of all this, Dad, is to go over
again that your Atheist, Anti-Christian position doesn’t make a lot of sense,
and that the Biblical record is sometimes shockingly reliable on very strange
topics in inexplicable ways. If the Bible is found to be reliable on these
peculiar natural matters, maybe it’s also credible on other matters as well -
including the super-natural. If you had taken the time, I think you would
have found this to be true. ... Yours,
Hydrothermal
vents Primordial Water and gases pour from beneath the earth's
crust, along the crusts "stretch marks". Can this source meet or
exceed the loss of gasses into Space to "self-heal" our Atmosphere? It
seems not.

Lapse Rate & Atmospheric Stratification
We don't know why these Charts show an ever rising ambient
temperature with altitude in the Thermosphere. What they're
trying to show, we guess, is the Temperature of an object
struck with the
radiant heat of the sun, mixing "apples & oranges" on the same
graph. Without the kinetic energy of matter / gas, how can
there be a ambient Temperature in Space that isn't close to Absolute
Zero? We think Ambient Temperature should be ever
decreasing as a function in parallel with the ever decreasing curve
of the Atmospheric Pressure with Altitude shown here. Drawn on
top of the Ambient Temperature curve could be perhaps another curve
in the Thermosphere approximating the Surface Temperature of an
object struck by the unmitigated radiant heat from the sun..
The
daily fluctuation of atmospheric temperatures in a "static"
atmosphere from absolute zero to the scalding provided by the
radiant heat would act like a solar shaver on the upper Atmosphere.
This is mollified, of course, because the Atmosphere is not static,
and convective forces will work to flatten the temperature gradients
as they are raised by the sun's solar radiation..

komodo dragon, fertilization, clone - Google Search
The atmosphere's composition
during the dinosaur era was vastly different as well. Carbon
dioxide levels were up to 12 times higher than today's levels,
and oxygen formed 32 to 35% of the atmosphere, as compared to
21% today. However, by the late
Cretaceous,
the environment was changing dramatically. Volcanic activity was
decreasing, which led to a cooling trend as levels of
atmospheric carbon dioxide dropped. Oxygen levels in the
atmosphere also started to fluctuate and would ultimately fall
considerably. Some scientists hypothesize that climate change,
combined with lower oxygen levels, might have led directly to
the demise of many species. If the dinosaurs had respiratory
systems similar to those commonly found in modern birds, it may
have been particularly difficult for them to cope with reduced
respiratory efficiency, given the enormous oxygen demands of
their very large bodies. <Here>
