ignored", legitimizing the ongoing

obligations to that pesky Natural Parent who thinks they can

It appears that many

Justice Minister Anne McLellan of "stalling" on reforms recommended more
than a year ago by an all-party joint Senate and Commons committee on child
custody and access. "Parenting is a mutual responsibility and what's called
access and custody in the Divorce Act should be changed to
'Shared
Parenting,'" Cools said Friday from Ottawa. "My
correspondence file shows a number of suicides. Among the 48
revisions recommended in the report of the 30-year-old Divorce
Act is the belief that mothers and fathers should have equal
rights in the raising of their children, regardless of marital

Under the Charter of Rights, Moms & Dads
ALREADY have equal rights. What Parenting Rights exist must be
distributed without discrimination in sex.
The last Liberal government responded to this argument for Equal
Parenting by ELIMINATING Natural Parents Rights in their

creation of Parliamentary Statute - simply refuse to according to Statute.

“The courts seem to
start from the premise that somehow fathers aren’t responsible
parents. But both parents are deemed good parents as long as the
marriage lasts; why are they not when the marriage ends?”
Jay has introduced
Bill C-245, An Act to amend the Divorce Act (shared
parenting) This bill would ensure that courts grant
custody of a child to both divorcing spouses unless there exists
evidence that it would not be in the best interests of the
child. The bill includes the recommendations of the Joint
House of Commons-Senate Subcommittee on Custody and Access which
the Liberals have essentially shelved.
