Custody Split Ratio Calculator:
The statutory requirement that the maximum
contact with the parents be maintained coupled with the
Charter's requirement that no discrimination on the basis of sex can
be made by Judges on the basis of sex leads inevitably to Equal
Parenting as a Statutory right of every Canadian parent, male and
female.
Functionally, this provides children with equal
opportunity for relationship with both parents - the best situation
for children's protection and development for a plethora of reasons.
Try checking your Parenting Agreement for equality using this
calculator. Save the Spreadsheet to your Desktop, and evaluate
each year for equality. We suggest that the ratio stay within
the range of 50/50% to 55/65%, and certainly not depart from
equality greater than 40/60%.
Download the spreadsheet to your Desktop with the Excel/pencil
button. The only data you need to put in are the number
of days Dad has the kids in a week of each week type.
The rest are calculated: Mom's days are 7- Dad's days, and so forth.
If the totals don't add up, there's something wrong. There are
52 weeks in a year, and for these purposes, there are 364 days in a
year (52 x 7 = 364). If you really mess things up, just
download it again. The only data to input are in Column (B),
Dad Days Per Week. If a Parenting
Arrangement has been imposed on you that does not meet the Charter's
requirement that Judges may not discriminate based on the sex of the
parent, you probably have a Charter violation. A remedy may be
available on Appeal.
